The Rylstone-Kandos Show Society would like to invite you to our Annual Show!

The Rylstone-Kandos Show held its first Show in 1937 and has conducted an annual Show every year since. In 2019, we will celebrate our 81st Annual Show!

Our Show boasts one of the prettiest Showgrounds in New South Wales and each year is getting bigger and better while retaining a real community and family friendly spirit.

Come along and be a part of a fun and exciting day for the whole family!

Our Show is held at the Rylstone Showground near the corner of Cudgegong St and Louee St, Rylstone.

At the time of writing this report we have just enjoyed the first Rylstone Bull-A-Rama. What a great night it was with close to 2000 people attending and entertained by some fantastic bull riding action. Almost all the reports I have heard have been very positive from those organising, competing and attending. This will become a regular attraction on the local calendar and one I think will continue to grow and prosper over time.

My congratulations go to all the sponsors, the Rodeo Subcommittee and all the volunteer helpers for the fantastic job they have done supporting and organising Bull-A-Rama. Your efforts were certainly repaid by the quality of event and the community support shown.

We are only a couple of months away from the 2019 show. As usual plans are well underway and I am pleased to report almost all the usual attractions and sections that have proved so popular in the past will be back, in some cases bigger and better than before. This year there is also an exciting and varied entertainment programme that should have something for everyone.

The entertainment programme will include a Horse Ball demonstration match, sheep counting competitions, a serenade of dancing horses, the usual dog high jump, tug of war, the fantastic fireworks display and 3 shows during the day and evening by the well-known and highly acclaimed comedy act the Crack Up Sisters who will also hold a free whip cracking workshop in the afternoon.

Once again, the show would not be possible without the efforts of so many committee members, volunteers and sponsors who give their time, money and expertise. While at times this may seem a chore, the Rylstone Kandos community would be much poorer without the Show and your efforts and generosity.

I thank all of you in advance for your contribution to the 2019 show.

On a more sombre note the show has lost 2 great supporters during the year with the passing of Sue Thorne and Dusty Ireland.

Sue Thorne was the first and to this time the only woman president of the show society and a long-term committee member. As well as her contribution to the organisational side of the show Sue together with her husband Wal were great supporters of the commercial cattle section where they enjoyed a lot of success.

Dusty Ireland was a long-standing patron of the society and a generous sponsor. Well known both at a local and wider level Dusty excelled in many fields and held the admiration of those who knew him.

Both Sue and Dusty were wonderful examples of that generation who successfully put so much time and effort to the development of the show and other district organisations. My condolences go to both families.

Finally, I wish everyone an enjoyable and successful show in 2019 and urge you all to bring along your family, friends and anyone else you can, as the show can only succeed with the support of the community. Let’s all make a huge effort to make 2019 the best Rylstone Kandos Show yet!
